About Solana
Solana is a high-throughput proof-of-stake blockchain launched in 2020 by Anatoly Yakovenko and the team at Solana Labs. It combines a novel proof-of-history clock with parallel transaction execution to achieve very high throughput and sub-second confirmation times, with transaction fees typically a fraction of a cent. SOL is the native token used for staking, governance and paying fees. The network has become a leading venue for consumer-facing crypto applications including high-frequency decentralized exchanges, NFT marketplaces, payments and on-chain games. Solana validators run specialized hardware, and the ecosystem includes mobile-focused projects and the Saga family of crypto-native phones.
