About Bitcoin Cash
Bitcoin Cash split from Bitcoin in August 2017 through a hard fork led by participants who wanted larger blocks and lower fees in order to keep the network usable for everyday payments. It retained the same proof-of-work consensus and 21 million coin supply cap, but raised the block size, initially to 8 megabytes, and adjusted other rules to favor on-chain throughput. The project positions itself as electronic cash for the world, prioritizing fast, low-cost peer-to-peer transactions over a store-of-value narrative. BCH is supported by independent development teams that periodically upgrade the protocol, and the network has its own ecosystem of wallets, merchants and services.
