About Uniswap
Uniswap is a leading decentralized exchange protocol on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains, launched in 2018 by Hayden Adams. It pioneered the automated market maker model, replacing traditional order books with on-chain liquidity pools where anyone can deposit pairs of tokens and earn a share of trading fees. The UNI token, distributed via a 2020 airdrop to early users, is the protocol governance token and lets holders vote on upgrades, fee parameters and treasury allocation. Successive versions introduced concentrated liquidity, multiple fee tiers and hooks that allow custom logic on top of pools, making Uniswap one of the most copied designs in decentralized finance.
