Bitcoin faces choppy summer as capital chases AI stocks, K33 warns

Bitcoin has dropped to $67,000, and according to K33 Research, the leading cryptocurrency may be in for a turbulent summer as investor capital continues to flow into artificial intelligence stocks instead of crypto.

In a Tuesday report, K33 Research head Vetle Lunde said bitcoin's weakness reflects fading institutional demand, heavy outflows from spot ETFs, and growing vulnerabilities in derivatives markets. "Much of the market views the opportunity cost of holding BTC as too high while anything AI-related soars," Lunde wrote. The divergence between crypto and equities has become stark: Bitcoin has failed to reclaim its 200-day moving average, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 continue to set record highs. This rotation out of crypto and into AI stocks is a key headwind for bitcoin in the near term.

For cryptocurrency traders, this environment underscores the importance of monitoring macro flows and risk sentiment. The current capital rotation away from crypto into high-flying tech stocks suggests that bitcoin may struggle to find a bid until the AI trade shows signs of fatigue or a catalyst emerges for crypto. Looking ahead, the key levels to watch are bitcoin's ability to hold above $65,000 support and reclaim its 200-day moving average. A break below could accelerate selling, while a recovery above the moving average would signal renewed strength. The upcoming US jobs report and Federal Reserve commentary will also be critical for risk assets, including crypto. K33's report suggests that without a shift in capital flows, bitcoin may remain range-bound through the summer.
