Ex-Robinhood Crypto COO Tanya Denisova joins stablecoin issuer Agora as operations head

Tanya Denisova, the former chief operating officer of Robinhood Crypto, has joined stablecoin issuer Agora as head of operations, according to a Tuesday blog post by Agora's CEO and co-founder Nick van Eck.

Denisova will also serve as COO of Agora's proposed National Trust Bank, subject to approval of the company's national trust charter application with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). She spent the last six years at Robinhood, where she served as COO of Robinhood Crypto, leading day-to-day operations across its regulated US and European entities. CoinDesk first reported her departure from the brokerage's cryptocurrency unit in May.

This move signals Agora's ambition to strengthen its operational leadership as it pursues a national trust charter, which would allow it to offer custody and other regulated services. For crypto traders, the appointment of a seasoned executive from a major retail platform like Robinhood underscores the growing convergence between traditional finance and digital assets. Agora, which issues the USD-backed stablecoin USDV, is positioning itself to compete in the increasingly crowded stablecoin market, where regulatory compliance is becoming a key differentiator. Looking ahead, the OCC's decision on Agora's trust charter application will be a key development to watch. If approved, it could pave the way for broader institutional adoption of Agora's stablecoin. Denisova's experience at Robinhood, particularly in navigating regulatory frameworks, may prove valuable as Agora seeks to expand its footprint in the US market.
